Fabricator/Welder Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fabricator/Welder Intern will join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. This individual will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine an appropriate welding process and will assist in running equipment such as shears, press breaks, and CNC lasers.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Design, fabricate, join, fit/tack, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures
• Operate a drill press, power saw, grinder and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools
• Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Analyze plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence
• Possess knowledge of welding techniques, tools and equipment
• Utilize proper safety and protective equipment required during welding assignments
• Prior experience with metal fabrication
• Ability to move or position work pieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by forklift
• Assist in operation of machines such as shears, press breaks, rollers, and CNC lasers
• Eagerness and willingness to learn and receive instruction/direction from qualified Journeyman Welder
• Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
• Participate in various shop laborer duties such as; cleaning, sweeping, moving parts, assisting welders, painting and sanding
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• High school diploma or currently an active student
• A minimum of three years welding experience
• Exceptional math skills required to be used in measuring the work process
• High standard of integrity and professionalism
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge
• Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed
• Ability to display a consistent positive attitude
• Demonstrated commitment when it comes to reliability and attendance
• Valid drivers license with acceptable driving history
